
African countries are also gradually joining the attraction of digital nomads and introducing special visas for them. So far there are three such countries. Let’s look in more detail at which countries these are and under what conditions you can move there as a nomad.

Cape Verde
In Cape Verde, a digital nomad can get a visa under the Remote Working Cabo Verde program.
The validity period of the visa is 6 months, it is possible to extend it on the spot, depending on the desired length of stay.
Requirements:
- Citizenship of a country in Europe, North America, the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries or the Economic Community of West African Countries.
- Proof of income for the last 6 months (minimum average bank account balance is 1,500 euros for one person or 2,700 euros for a family).
- Availability of travel and medical insurance.
The visa application is submitted online on the program’s website.
Application processing time: approximately 2 weeks.
The cost of the visa: The airport fee — 34 euros per person — is paid in a lump sum upon arrival. When extending a visa, you need to pay a visa fee of 20 euros per person.
Living in the country: rent a one—bedroom apartment – €170-270, communal apartment — €70, monthly pass — €20, lunch at an inexpensive cafe — €4.50.
Mauritius
Mauritius offers remote workers an option such as a Premium visa. Citizens of more than 100 countries can apply for this visa, including countries in Europe, North and South America, Africa, Asia and Oceania.
Features: you can first come on a tourist visa, and then apply for this visa if you want to stay longer. By the way, you can watch the island live on the cameras.
The validity period of the visa is 1 year with the possibility of extension.
Requirements:
- Income outside Mauritius is $1,500 per month,
- Provide documents confirming the purpose of the visit, accommodation, etc.
- Valid travel and medical insurance.
You can apply for a visa online at the link. It is processed for about 2 days, after which a reply is received by email.
This visa is issued free of charge.
Living in the country: rent a one—bedroom apartment – €280-400, communal apartment — €50, monthly pass — €20, lunch at an inexpensive cafe — €6.
Namibia
Features of the Digital Nomad visa in Namibia:
- It does not allow you to work for local companies, open bank accounts or purchase real estate in Namibia.
- Separate permits are required for business, study, etc.
- You can move with your family, they are registered as accompanying persons of the main applicant.
The validity period of the visa is 6 months, without the possibility of extension. Re-application is possible only 12 months after the expiration of the previous visa.
Requirements:
- Proof of income/financial stability ($2,000 for the applicant, $1,000 for the spouse, $500 per child monthly).
- Valid travel documents.
- Medical/travel insurance with risk coverage in Namibia.
- A certificate of non-criminal record.
- Medical report in the form of MHAISS.
The application for a visa is submitted in Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) by email nomadvisa@nipdb.com
Application processing time: about 2-3 weeks.
Visa fee: about $124 (2200 Namibian dollars), payable on arrival.
Living in the country: rent of a “one—bedroom apartment” – €230-300, communal apartment — €70, monthly pass — €20, lunch at an inexpensive cafe — €7.50.
