Holidays and excursions in Russia and abroad Maria Selivanova
Tourists decide how to spend the March long weekend: bask in the resorts of the Krasnodar Territory (it’s 13 degrees and sunny in Sochi now), relax in the spa complex of a country hotel or arrange a short city tour to the city with historical sights. If you add a few days, it is quite possible to fly abroad. Tours and tickets are still available, tour operators say, noting that the traditional peak in demand is a week before the first spring holiday. Which routes to choose and how much it costs are in the RIA Novosti material.
Vacation in March 2024
Russians became more willing to rest in early March. The number of bookings for long weekends has increased by a third, according to Fly.ru”. This is partly due to the fact that last year March 8 fell on Wednesday, this year on Friday. Taking into account Saturday and Sunday, there are three days for a short trip.

It is noteworthy that the depth of bookings for this period has doubled: the first applications began to arrive in July 2023, the Tez Tour press service noted. A year earlier, for the same period, the first orders were paid only in November.
However, Sergey Romashkin, CEO of the Dolphin tour operator, adds that the number of bookings for March in the company has decreased by ten percent over the year. “Tourists had a rest during the New Year holidays, and now many save money for summer trips. Currently, 85 percent of bookings are for the period after May 10. This is 35 percent more than a year ago.”
Hotels and sanatoriums on the Black Sea
Half of the purchased tours in Russia for the long March weekend are to the Black Sea coast of the Krasnodar Territory, the press service of the national tour operator Alean notes.

“Facilities with developed infrastructure are in the greatest demand, offering an entertainment program for families with children, as well as girl companies, couples and singles on March 8,” the Alean tour operator clarifies. We are talking about contests, the availability of board games, master classes, discos, spa services.
There is a high interest in the network facilities operating under the “ultra all inclusive” system in the Krasnodar Territory. In Gelendzhik, travelers are actively booking the Krasnaya Talka sanatorium, the Friendly Coast and Kavkaz boarding houses. Moreover, the demand for holidays in this city has almost equaled Sochi, which may be due to the lower cost of the trip.

In Anapa, tourists most often choose hotels offering “all inclusive”: Corudo Family Resort & Spa, Sunparco, Aurum, Mira City, Mövenpick Resort & SPA Anapa Miracleon.
The average cost of a night in a hotel in the resorts of the Krasnodar Territory is 3.1 thousand rubles per person, experts of the tour operator “Dolphin” reported.
Kazan and Kaliningrad: sightseeing tours
Sightseeing trips to Tatarstan for three days and city tours to Kaliningrad are in the second and third places in popularity, Sergey Romashkin said. According to experts, a day in Kazan with accommodation, guided tours and two meals a day costs an average of six thousand rubles per tourist. In Kaliningrad, it is 500 rubles more expensive. The road is an additional expense for travelers.

In early March, the demand for sightseeing tours to Lake Baikal and the Murmansk region increased, according to Alean. There is also a noticeable interest in visits to the thermal springs of Adygea (for example, to the Psygups Park Hotel) and hotels in Stavropol. “Tourists book urban sites in Kislovodsk, Yessentuki, Zheleznovodsk for sightseeing. They usually allocate more time for a trip to the sanatorium,” the experts explained.
Walking in Moscow, relaxation in the Moscow region
Moscow and the region complete the top five most sought-after destinations. “The number of tickets sold there will increase in the coming days, since such trips are usually redeemed a week before the trip,” Romashkin predicts. A day’s stay in Moscow with accommodation and a couple of excursions costs about five thousand rubles.
If tourists in the capital seek to visit the sights, then fans of recreation in the Moscow region choose relaxation instead of excursions: they spend time in good hotels, relax in nature, visit baths and spa centers. “Many people save on a flight to the south, for example, 40 thousand rubles, stay in their region, but settle in expensive hotels,” the expert says.

In the Moscow region, vacationers actively book rooms at the Peresvet Russian Seasons resort. The festive program includes animation, a concert by Dmitry Kharatyan and a banquet. A children’s concert and a show program, a cocktail master class, a fitness marathon, a barbecue picnic are planned at the Yakhonty Noginsk Hotel. Arthurs SPA Hotel by Mercure, Palmira Garden Hotel & SPA, Foresta Festival Park are also in demand. These facilities attract lovers of spa treatments: massage, thalassotherapy, therapeutic baths, wraps are offered to guests.
The cost of a three—day holiday with three meals a day in such hotels starts from 46 thousand rubles for two, “all inclusive” — from 69 thousand rubles, calculated in “Alean”.
March holidays abroad

“This year, Russian tourists have chosen about 30 countries for their spring holidays,” Tez Tour said. Not only the volume of bookings has increased, but also the number of expensive vouchers. For example, the number of applications worth more than three million rubles has increased fivefold. And the average cost of the tour, which covers the period of March 8, doubled over the year, reaching 123.4 thousand rubles per person.
The leader of demand is the UAE, where about a third of those who choose to vacation abroad will go, the company said. Several airlines fly there from Russia, and hotels offer attractive prices — from 49 thousand rubles per person.

Thailand is in second place among organized tourists, Egypt is in third place. Turkey and Sri Lanka are also in the top five.
The most budget option for holidays abroad is Abkhazia, where Russians usually get through the airport in Sochi. A vacation in the neighboring republic will cost from 16 and a half thousand rubles for two. The power is on, the road is not.
