Space Tourism Day is celebrated annually in the world on April 28. The beginning of the era of space tourism was the flight of the first tourist aboard the Russian manned spacecraft Soyuz TM-32 on April 28, 2001.
On the same day 23 years ago, the Soyuz TM-32 spacecraft launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome. The crew included the first space tourist, American entrepreneur Dennis Tito.
The material “Evening Moscow” says that the tour of the first tourist lasted 7 days, Dennis Tito realized his dream, visited space and flew around the Earth 128 times, paying $ 20 million dollars (approximately 1.8 billion rubles) for his flight.
Russian cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev notes that in order to become a space tourist, you need to undergo a medical examination, then several months of training.
“The ticket price includes preparation and support. Of course, during the flight, tourists are told about what surrounds them,” explains Oleg Artemyev. — But they won’t let you go into outer space. I would also like to note that now only US companies and our Roscosmos are engaged in space tourism. At the same time, Americans use Russian devices because they do not trust their own.”
