The government of Cyprus has announced plans to join the US visa waiver program until 2025. In particular, the government has recently submitted to Parliament a bill on ratification of the agreement signed with the United States as part of joining the program. On June 17, the Governments of Cyprus and the United States of America signed an interstate agreement in Washington on the exchange of travel information, including risk assessment for persons considered dangerous to enter one of these countries. Recently, the next step was taken, as part of the procedure for granting visa-free travel to the United States to Cypriot citizens, Cyprus submitted a bill on the country’s membership in the US Waiver Program. The bill was submitted to the House of Representatives, and it required the ratification of the previously signed agreement.
The main purpose of such actions is to allow Cypriot citizens to travel to the United States without a visa.
