A new international airport is opening in Turkey on the Mediterranean coast — in the city of Mersin.
The construction of the Chukurova International Airport by Kozuva Airports has been completed, and the date of its opening has become known. As the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu said, the air harbor will open on August 10, 2024. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will take part in the opening ceremony.
Thus, Chukurova Airport will be put into operation 13 years after the first tender.
The airport is located halfway between the cities of Mersin and Adana. Its area is 800 hectares, it is designed for 8 million passengers per year. The runway has a length of 3.5 km, which allows you to receive passenger aircraft of any type.
It is expected that the airport will become Turkey’s second largest cargo hub and gateway to the Middle East, and will contribute to the development of tourism and trade in the region and throughout the country.
