During the day on May 24, the dollar exchange rate on the Moscow Stock Exchange fell below 89.5 rubles, the euro tested 97 rubles for the first time since February 5. For tomorrow, May 25, the Bank of Russia has set official exchange rates of 89.70 rubles per dollar and 97.10 rubles per euro.
Tour operators have also recalculated the rates at which they will accept payment for tours abroad tomorrow. Biblio-Globus, Intourist, Coral Travel, Pegasus will calculate the cost in rubles at the rate of 92.39 rubles per dollar and 100.01 rubles per euro. Fun&Sun – 92.40 and 100.1 rubles each, Anex – 92.48 and 100.11 rubles each. Tour operator companies add 3-3.1% to the Central Bank’s exchange rate.
A month ago, on April 24, tour operators calculated the cost of tours abroad based on 96.09–96.18 rubles per US dollar and 102.5–102.65 rubles per euro. This is more than today by almost 4 and 2.5 rubles, respectively.
Tourists should keep in mind that the exchange rate is only one of the factors affecting the prices of travel packages. The strengthening of the ruble does not necessarily mean an “automatic” reduction in the cost of tours abroad. To a much greater extent, the cost depends on the ratio of supply and demand.
