Cases when Russian tourists are not allowed abroad because of the letters E and E in documents are becoming regular. The day before, Maria Dedeneva could not fly to Turkey on vacation – she was not released by border guards during control at Vnukovo airport.
As the girl told the telegram channel “Careful, Moscow”, she appeared in the passport as Dedeneva, and in the migration registration system – Dedeneva. As a result, it was recognized that the passport contains false information and is subject to seizure. “In front of me, a family of five people got into the same situation, three of them had their passports canceled due to an error in the patronymic Semenovich,” Maria added.
According to her, she received the document last year at the IFC Lianozovo. Now she intends to apply for a new passport. And at the same time, he will try to refund the money for the ticket from the tour operator.
Recall that problems with traveling abroad due to errors in foreign passports began to arise after the entry into force of Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 889 dated 11/22/2023 “Issues of citizenship of the Russian Federation” and Federal Law No. 138-FZ dated 04/28/2023 “On Citizenship of the Russian Federation”. Documents began to be checked at checkpoints more carefully, and many are being deployed. At the same time, with E and E, the situation looks the most confusing. For example, according to lawyer Igor Kositsyn, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation clarified back in 2009 that these letters in names and surnames are identical and the letter E is not necessary to use if the meaning does not change.
And Vice-Speaker of the State Duma Vladislav Davankov even sent an appeal to the Border Service of the FSB of Russia with a request to sort out the “letter issue”. The deputy draws attention to the fact that in the rules of Russian spelling and punctuation, approved back in 1956, the spelling of E and E are equivalent. The provision also applies to first names, patronymics and surnames, provided that this does not violate the identification of a citizen using a document.
Last week we wrote that Muscovite Alyona Tolkacheva was not allowed to go on vacation to Turkey. The woman could not leave because she appeared in the passport as Alyona, and in the civil one as Alyona.
