Pobeda Airlines, as an exception, allowed an elderly passenger to take Scandinavian walking sticks into the cabin of the aircraft, which she used as canes. The incident was reported by the TG channel “Caution, news”.
An employee of the carrier tried to explain to an 89-year-old pensioner flying from Ulyanovsk to Moscow and her escort that tracking sticks cannot be considered hand luggage, they must be checked in. Apparently, this meant the registration of oversized cargo, since the airline was asked to pay 4 thousand rubles for its transportation.
However, the woman’s relatives begged to let her on the plane with sticks. They explained that Valentina Semenovna had previously flown Pobedy flights with such equipment, she simply cannot walk without sticks. “Mom uses sticks like a cane,” the passenger’s daughter clarified. As a result, the airline employee gave up.
