Travel industry experts named European countries that are still visited by Russian tourists. Italy is the leader among them, where, along with Rome, Florence and Naples, Milan remains the most popular city.

According to Dmitry Gorin, Vice President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (PCT), in addition to Italy, France, Spain and Greece are in the list of the most popular European countries among Russians in the summer of 2024.
According to him, the growth of travel to Europe continues, despite the lack of direct air links between European countries and Russia. So far, the figures of the tourist flow are not comparable with the doctored figures, but the situation is encouraging for specialists in the tourism sector. In the summer of 2024 alone, about 140,000 Russians visited Europe.

The expert noted that under the conditions of restrictions, tour operators have revised the programs for delivering tourists to Europe. For example, there are block programs for flights to Cyprus and Montenegro via Kuwait.
The PCT clarifies that Schengen visas continue to be issued to Russians from 17 countries, and in about 50% of cases, multiple-entry visas are issued. The failure rate is only 10%.
In turn, the Turprom portal named the most popular tourist destinations in Europe this year. Spain is in the lead in this list, while Italy is in second place and Greece is in third. Turkey, Portugal, San Marino and Ireland were also included in the ranking.
In addition, the portal noted the countries that attract millions of tourists, despite their high cost. Switzerland topped this ranking, and France, Liechtenstein, Monaco and Norway.

When compiling the TOP 5, experts assessed the incoming and outgoing flow to a particular state, the number of attractions and their degree of accessibility, and the level of income from tourism in the country.
France took the first place, where there are dozens of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, thousands of historical and architectural monuments and natural attractions.
Spain is in second place, and Mexico, a country with a rich culture, is in third place. The fourth place belongs to the USA, where every tourist will find interesting places and activities to suit their taste, and the fifth place belongs to Greece, a country of ancient history and the turquoise sea.
