The world-famous “Muay Thai” represents a key element of Thailand’s “soft power”, offering many unique travel experiences for tourists visiting the kingdom.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand has been the organizer of the Amazing Muay Thai Experience event for the second year in a row. It will be held from August to September in four regions-the founders of martial arts and the main goal will be to stimulate travel within the country, which can evenly distribute income from tourism.
“The ancient martial art of Muay Thai is a national treasure of the kingdom, known all over the world. It is considered an integral part of Thailand’s “soft power” and the country’s rich cultural heritage, along with the film industry, fashion, festivals and gastronomic traditions, which have become a calling card for tourists from all over the world,” comments the participation of the Tourism Authority of Thailand in the organization of the Amazing Muay Thai Experience, its head, Tapani Kiatfaibul.
The Amazing Muay Thai Experience is one of a series of events that the Tourism Authority plans to hold throughout the year to provide tourists with the opportunity to learn as much as possible about the martial art of Muay Thai by visiting his homeland. Moreover, it has four unique varieties:
- Muay Chaya of Southern Thailand;
- Muay Korat of the Northeast of Thailand;
- Muay Tha Sao of the North of Thailand;
- Muay Lop Storms of the central part of Thailand.
These four varieties of Muay Thai originated in Surat Thani, Nakhon Ratchasim, Uttaradit and Lopburi, respectively.
The first event of the Amazing Muay Thai Experience will be held in Surat Thani from August 2-4 at Chaloem Phrakiat 84th Birthday Anniversary Public Park in Chaya district. Here you can see the fighting technique created in the south of the kingdom – with a characteristic stance and a wai kru ceremony. From August 16 to 18, at Wat Yai Tha Sao in Uttaradit, you can see a special combination of Thai and Chinese martial traditions — Muay Tha Sao. Muay Korat fans with an emphasis on punches and kicks will be able to enjoy spectacular fights from September 6 to 8 at Meru Bhramathat in Phimai District.
The last of the four events will be held in Lopburi from September 13 to 15 at the Palace of King Narai in Mueang District. It will be dedicated to the fast fighting technique with the slopes of Muay Lop Storm.
In any of the locations, Thai boxing connoisseurs will enjoy not only spectacular performances, but also master classes where they can master the correct fighting technique under the guidance of experienced Muay Thai masters. The program also includes information stands and sites where it will be possible to get a tattoo, musical performances with the participation of famous Thai artists and a food zone with popular dishes of local cuisine.
