In 2024, Russians’ spending on holidays increased to 67.4 thousand rubles per person. This is 7% more than in 2023 and 75% higher compared to 2022.
In 2023, spending on summer holidays amounted to 62,158 rubles per person, in 2022 – 38,605 rubles.
Kirill Rodin, Director of Government Relations at VTSIOM, cited inflation and the emergence of new infrastructure and services in the tourism sector as the reasons for the growth.
“The first hypothesis that can be expressed is that prices are rising, holidays are becoming more and more expensive. Inflation, of course, takes place, but we see that the volume of spending on recreation is growing faster than the inflation rate. That is, Russians have really started spending more. And here the second hypothesis already appears, why Russians began to spend more. Yes, because there was something to spend on. Tours appeared, services appeared. That is, there is something to spend money on in order to get the pleasure of a vacation, for which the vacation is organized,” Kirill Rodin is quoted by Interfax.
45% of respondents reported that the conditions for recreation and leisure in Russia are changing for the better, 18% – for the worse, 19% – that nothing is changing. Last year, 36% of the survey participants saw improvements.
