The Venezuelan government has told employees of its diplomatic institutions in Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Peru and Uruguay to return back to Venezuela, expelled representatives of these states from their country, and also canceled more than 300 commercial flights.

In which countries are there failures in the work of the consular network?
– Argentina. The consular offices of Venezuela in Argentina and the consular offices of Argentina in Venezuela have suspended all consular services indefinitely. The diplomatic staff of the Venezuelan Embassy in Argentina was ordered to leave Argentina on July 31, 2024.

How will the closure of diplomatic missions affect people?
Citizens should expect disruptions in the provision of consular services – persons whose applications are awaiting consideration at the consular offices of Venezuela in the affected countries, as well as at the consular offices of these countries in Venezuela, should be prepared for processing failures. In particular, problems are expected with obtaining Venezuelan visas, apostille and legalization services, as well as passport registration.
