32% of Russians surveyed by VTSIOM traveled by car during the year.

According to TASS, citing a VTsIOM study, in the vast majority of cases these were mini-trips lasting no more than a week (81% of the number of road travelers): about half went for one to three days (51%), another 30% – for four to seven days. 19% made longer trips.
“As for the distance of trips, 45% enjoyed the beauty of Russia within a radius of 500 km from home (45%), more than half of the respondents with experience in car travel (55%) overcame this distance,” VTSIOM representatives said.
Together with the Central and Northwestern Federal Districts (38% and 31%, respectively), there are a large number of road travelers in the Southern Federal District (38%).
According to VTsIOM, Russians with extensive experience in car travel are ready for long-distance travel by car – 501 km or more (78%). The average desired distance of tourist trips by car is twice as long as the distance of trips already made – 2.2 thousand km versus 1.06 thousand km. The three most preferred tourist destinations included the Southern, Northwestern and Siberian Federal Districts (29%, 23% and 21%).
