An elderly couple bought first-class tickets to make a seven-hour flight from Boston to Los Angeles with maximum comfort. Having not received the promised service, the tourists appealed to the airline with a claim. However, they offered only modest compensation for the inconvenience caused, The Boston Globe reported last week.
An unsuccessful trip for 83-year-old passengers happened last fall. Then they decided to fly to California for their 60th wedding anniversary. We have been planning for a long time and decided that the best option would be a first-class Mint fare on JetBlue aircraft.
Having paid 2.6 thousand dollars for round-trip tickets for each, they expected to sleep on the road in fully folding seats. But they were in for an unpleasant surprise: one chair was stuck halfway between the vertical and flat position, and in the other the mechanism did not respond to manipulation at all. The only thing the flight attendants could do was to return the first seat to the starting position. And when I returned home, there was only one chair in working condition.
In the comments of the media, the tourists noted that they were not allocated alternative seats on any flight. According to them, it would be right, for example, to transfer to economy class and return the difference in cost – 3.2 thousand dollars.
After the trip, the pensioners tried for several months to get justice. JetBlue admitted that their seats were broken, but felt that food and beverage delivery services were more important for those choosing premium passenger service.
Initially, they decided to get rid of the disgruntled pensioners with a modest discount of $ 400 for two to purchase air tickets in the future. Thanks to the attention of the press, it was then increased to 1,4 thousand. But older people no longer plan to fly with this carrier and would like to receive cash.
