“We have already started negotiations within the Russian Federation on the possibility of obtaining aircraft for wet leasing. Aeroflot has also already taken the initiative to amend the Air Code to allow aircraft to be leased on wet leases in foreign markets outside the Russian Federation. The Ministry of Transport supports us in this,” Interfax quoted Aeroflot CEO Sergei Alexandrovsky as saying.

“Wet” leasing means renting an aircraft together with the crew. The head of the Ministry of Transport Roman Starovoit noted that this initiative is in the process of discussion with friendly countries.

It is clarified that on September 1 of this year, the provisions of the Air Code of the Russian Federation came into force, which allow airlines to lease their aircraft on a “wet” lease. At the same time, this tool can only be used for domestic transportation of passengers, baggage, cargo and mail.
