In Cuba, a couple of Cuban tourists were refused to check into a hotel

На Кубе паре кубинских же туристов отказали в заселении в отель

In Cuba, a couple of Cuban tourists were not accommodated in a five-star hotel at a resort in the province of Holguin. The offended woman claims that the hotel staff motivated this decision by a large age difference and the absence of a registered marriage. The unusual incident was reported yesterday by the publication Ciber Cuba.

At the reception of the Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Hotel, a 31-year-old woman recorded a video, outraged by the violation of her rights. In it, she complained of discrimination, noting that she had lived with her common-law husband for 8 years and he was 20 years older than her.

It can be assumed that the real reason for what happened is overbooking. The publication recalled that earlier tourists had repeatedly complained about the hotels of the MGM Muthu Hotels hotel chain due to the lack of rooms with a confirmed reservation.

The cost of accommodation in Gran Muthu Almirante Beach is 10-26 thousand rubles per night, and it was not possible to find free rooms in the near future. Russian tourists arriving to the island on tour packages often stay at this hotel on Guardalavaka Beach.

A couple of years ago, the prohibition of Cubans to relax in tourist places designed for foreigners was commonplace. However, after the decrease in tourist traffic during the coronavirus pandemic, the authorities lifted restrictions on domestic tourism and allowed citizens of the country to stay in any hotels.

Earlier, TurDom wrote that in Turkey, Russians faced overbooking in hotels in Antalya, Side, Alanya due to the influx of tourists on the occasion of the Eid al-Adha holiday. Tour operators tried to solve the problems, but the results were different.
