Flights from Moscow to Addis Ababa have become popular due to transit to Latin America

Рейсы из Москвы в Аддис-Абебу стали популярны за счет транзита в Латинскую Америку

The number of passengers traveling on direct flights from Moscow to Addis Ababa increased by 15% in 7 months compared to last year. And if we recall the indicators of the same period in 2021, then, as reported in the Domodedovo press service, the growth is 117% at all. The airport recalled that Ethiopian Airlines flights are operated 4 times a week – on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

The good dynamics is explained not only by the popularity of Ethiopia, perhaps not so much by this, as by the convenience of flying through the capital of an African country to the states of South America. The most interesting options are offered for traveling from Moscow to Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires. The road to the Brazilian metropolis with a connection in Addis Ababa will take almost a day, and a one-way ticket in early October will cost 153.7 thousand rubles. It will take longer to get to the capital of Argentina – 29 hours. The ticket price is 182.9 thousand rubles. By the way, it takes longer to fly on a Turkish Airlines flight with a transfer in Istanbul – almost 33 hours. But the price on October 1 is noticeably lower – 129.2 thousand rubles.

But there was no information that Russians were dropped off from Ethiopian Airlines flights, which cannot be said about transit to Latin America via Istanbul. In early March, Russian tourists faced the problem of not being allowed on Turkish Airlines flights. Hundreds of our compatriots were unable to fly from Istanbul to Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and other countries in the region. The Turkish carrier referred to certain “requirements” of the migration services of the destination countries.
