Bali proposes to introduce fines for tourists who have not paid the tourist fee.

The initiative to impose fines came from the Acting Governor of Bali Sangmade Mahendra Jaya. He also proposed to apply sanctions not only in terms of collecting fines, but also in the form of imprisonment.
“If there are no sanctions now, we will not be able to do anything about them if they do not make payments. In the future, it is possible to impose sanctions in the amount of at least a 10-fold fine or a week’s imprisonment. Then they will definitely pay,” the acting governor of Bali is quoted by foreign media.
In addition to sanctions, Sang Madhe Mahendra Jaya proposes to provide incentives for individuals and organizations that help collect fees from foreign tourists.
It is clarified that Bali began to charge a tourist fee from foreign visitors to the resort on February 14. Its size is 150 thousand Indonesian rupees, or about 10 dollars. The new rule has been in effect for a long time, but the effectiveness of the measure is in doubt – not all tourists pay the fee in good faith.
