The authorities of the Astrakhan region are considering the possibility of introducing an environmental fee for tourists for the use of natural resources. This was told by the governor Igor Babushkin.
According to him, due to the increase in tourist flow to the Astrakhan region, the burden on the infrastructure and the ecology of the Volga has increased, so the issue of introducing an eco-collection has arisen. In 2023, the region received more than 1.37 million tourists, three times more than a year earlier.
“Today we are working on the collection algorithm: goals and objectives, the use of the collected funds, amendments to federal and regional legislation,” the governor added.
They want to put the issue of introducing an eco-collection to a general vote, which will be held on September 6-8, 2024.
