Legislation in the field of hotel classification will be changed for new regions of the Russian Federation. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov.
“A new draft law on classification has been prepared jointly with the Ministry, together with deputies. Several points are changing: the first is that the classification should become universal, and we must include all collective accommodation facilities there, without exception, no matter what jurisdiction they are in, in order to get a unified register. The second point is that we are changing the approaches to classification. We are saying that the classification from zero to two stars is rather self–examination and self-declaration of a business, no one needs to run around, pay classifiers. We currently have 250 classifiers, many of which employ one person each. We understand that this is a payment for a piece of paper,” he said at a plenary meeting of the Federation Council, Interfax reports.
According to the minister, due to their specifics, the department is ready to make separate transition periods for new regions.
