The weather in Sochi deteriorated sharply this afternoon. It was sunny in the morning, tourists were relaxing on the beaches, but in the afternoon a powerful downpour hit the resort, accompanied by strong gusts of wind.
A tree fell down on the highway to Krasnaya Polyana, and the road was blocked for some time. The Adler district was most severely flooded. Numerous photos and videos are posted on social networks – cars literally “float” in streams of water.
As she told the portal TourDom.ru The head of the Sochi host company Aelita, Alexandra Serdyuchenko, such weather phenomena are not uncommon in the city in late July and early August.
According to her, there was a downpour yesterday, the rain continued all night and only cleared up in the morning. Thunderclouds are thick over the sea now, and lightning is flashing. There are no serious flooding in the center of Sochi, travel is difficult along some streets in the Adler district.
As for the hotels of the Imereti lowland, most of the large facilities are built on high ramps and should not be affected by water flows, the expert explained.
We called the reception service of the Bogatyr hotel, they confirmed that the situation is still normal, the complex is operating normally, there are no power outages, as well as other problems that may be caused by flooding.
Judging by the weather forecast for the coming days, the rains in Sochi should stop tomorrow. Partly cloudy weather is promised, up to 29 °C in the afternoon.
