The first passengers of the renovated station were welcomed by the Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov.

“As a result of the reconstruction, the station has become more spacious, comfortable, and bright. The builders added 6 turnstiles, now there are 17 of them, expanded the lobby, but most importantly, instead of three outdated escalators, four new ones were installed. All equipment is Russian. Escalators are a proprietary development of St. Petersburg metro builders. Now the station can accommodate more than 50 thousand passengers per day,” he said.

Chernyshevskaya station was opened in 1958 as part of the construction of the second section of the Kirovsko-Vyborgskaya metro line.  It remains one of the deepest metro stations in the world – 66 meters. The length of the inclined passage is 120 meters – this is almost a thousand escalator steps.

The station was closed for reconstruction on October 25, 2022. The work was carried out while preserving its historical architectural appearance.
