Governor Alexander Beglov and Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Roman Starovoit discussed the progress of work on the construction of the Vitebsk interchange of the Western High-Speed Diameter.
The Vitebsk Interchange project includes two transport interchanges: with the Western High-Speed Diameter and with Vitebsk Avenue, as well as a section of the main course. The length of the highway is 2.6 km. There are 6 lanes for vehicles. The allowed speed is 110 km/h. The capacity will be 70 thousand vehicles per day. The creation of the Vitebsk interchange will significantly improve the accessibility of the ZSD for residents of nearby areas, reduce the load on the interchange of the toll highway with Blagodatnaya Street and the adjacent road network.
In the future, the Vitebsk interchange will connect the ZSD with the planned construction of the SCHMSD, which will ensure the continuity of the route in the direction of the eastern districts of St. Petersburg‑St. Petersburg, and subsequently the Leningrad region.
“The project is big and difficult. We are building in extremely cramped conditions. Near the railway, business buildings, communications. But the builders are coping. Everyone understands the importance of this denouement and is doing everything to complete the tasks on time,” Alexander Beglov emphasized.
