A new section of the Makarov Embankment with a bridge over the Smolenka River will be built in the Vasileostrovsky district of St. Petersburg.

На Васильевском острове построят новый участок набережной Макарова

The corresponding draft of the territory layout was supported the day before at a working meeting of the Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, with members of the city government.

A 775-meter-long section will appear on the territory from the 2nd line of Vasilyevsky Island to the bridge over Serny Island. By 2026, it will connect two existing parts of the Makarov Embankment.

“This highway is very important for the development of the transport infrastructure of Vasilyevsky Island. It will dramatically improve the communication of two districts at once – Vasileostrovsky and Petrogradsky with the Western High-speed Diameter,” the governor noted.

According to him, a green zone with pedestrian and bicycle paths and recreation areas will be created along the new section along the banks of the Malaya Neva at the request of residents.
