After the changes in the Golden Visa program, the number of applications from investors increased by 125.5% in March 2023, compared with the number of applications in March last year. The volume of investments amounted to 78.4 million euros. Such statistics are provided by the Portuguese Service for Foreigners and Borders SEF (Serviço de Estrangeiros e Fronteiras).
From January to March, investors received 386 “golden visas”, of which 163 were issued in March: 119 for the purchase of real estate and 44 for investments in other sectors of the country’s economy. Together with the applicants, 262 relatives issued the documents.
Recall that the Golden Visa program, which has been in operation since 2012, brought more than € 6.931 million to the Portuguese budget, and 11921 people became residents of the country.
Recently, the Portuguese government made changes to the bill “More housing”. He assumes that the visas issued earlier will be transferred to the type D2 (business visa). In addition, now you can invest only in cultural heritage sites to obtain a “golden visa”.
