Russian regions and municipalities should be given more powers to tax expensive property. This statement was made by the head of the Ministry of Finance of Russia Anton Siluanov as part of the hearings on improving tax legislation, it follows from the broadcast on the State Duma website.
“It is necessary to give more powers to the subjects of the Russian Federation, municipalities on taxation of expensive objects, land plots, property transactions,” Siluanov said.
Proposals regarding the improvement of the tax system should be coordinated with Russian entities, the minister stressed.

In early April, a bill was submitted to the State Duma, which provides for the introduction of a special tax on luxury items — expensive cars, yachts, airplanes and real estate. According to the developers, it is planned to put the law into effect as early as January 1, 2024.
