Turkey has not become a very popular destination among Russians. As a result, hoteliers began to reduce the cost of accommodation, trying to attract tourists from the Russian Federation. However, prices are not the only factor that our compatriots are now guided by. This was stated by the president of the Union of Travel Agencies Sergey Golov on the air of Komsomolskaya Pravda Radio.
The expert noted that the trend of reducing the cost of holidays in Turkey has indeed begun. However, the price drop still falls short of the level currently observed in the United Arab Emirates. The fact is that the country has a high inflation rate. Hoteliers cannot afford to cut prices wholesale.
The political situation also affects the tourism industry. If earlier, with early booking, discounts reached up to 30%, now there are practically no such offers. This is caused by the uncertainty of the Russians themselves.
“We were taught, I mean Russian tourists, that immediately after the New Year, somewhere in the middle of January, we can already book hotels in Turkey at very favorable prices. The difference (with a later booking) reached up to 30 percent. Now there is no such depth (discounts) for one simple reason — people were afraid to book in advance, not knowing what would happen tomorrow. This has destabilized the market a little bit,” the expert emphasizes.
While the tourism industry was recovering, the preferences of Russians had already changed. Russians began to relax more at domestic resorts.
