Bank card tourism in Russia has virtually ceased to exist, says Aleksan Mkrtchyan, Vice President of the Alliance of Travel Agencies. In a conversation with Lenta.
For a long time now, all the cards of popular foreign banks can be made in Russia, in your hometown, you do not need to go anywhere. Everything is being done remotely now, so card tours have been on the decline for a long time

“The most popular tours were to Belarus, because it is the closest to Moscow and cheaper, because the Swallow goes to Minsk. People arrived one day: they arrived in the morning, made a card, and left in the evening. But since Belarusian banks have been sanctioned, now Visa and Mastercard cards of Belarusian banks do not work abroad,” he said.
On April 3, the Central Bank of Kazakhstan announced that the country’s banks decide for themselves which payment systems they work with. This is how the regulator explained the refusal of credit institutions of the republic to service Russian Mir cards. Almost all financial organizations in Kazakhstan have stopped cooperating with the system.
As a source in the Russian banking market told Kommersant, Tajikistan and Belarus may stop servicing Mir cards. Armenia and Kyrgyzstan have already taken a similar step.
