Weather in Sochi in spring
The real Sochi spring is March and April. The average daytime air temperature in mid—March is +8…+10°C – not hot, but comfortable. The weather in Sochi in April is up to +15…+17°C. In May, it gets quite warm and the high season begins. When choosing dates, take into account holidays: March 8, school holidays, major sports and entertainment events.
A long weekend or weeks is enough for a refreshing trip. We went for 5 days in March and 2 times a week in April. If the goal is treatment, then the duration of rest depends on the prescribed course.
Flights to Sochi
Practically all Russian airlines fly to Sochi (Adler Airport). You can buy tickets to Sochi even a few days before your trip, but it’s better to do it in advance. Look for the best prices with departure from your city through the search engine.
Train to Sochi
If you travel by train, buy train tickets to Sochi in advance, the earlier the cheaper and more seats. There are promotions for dedicated Russian Railways trains in the spring.
A branded double-decker train runs from Moscow to Sochi (Adler). We went to a compartment on the second floor, in April there was a discount on the upper shelves of the schedule and prices.
Where to stay in the center of Sochi
Since spring on the Black Sea coast does not involve a beach holiday, it is better to stay in the center of Sochi, closer to the promenade and entertainment. It is expensive to live here in summer, and prices are low in March and April. You can afford a high-class hotel for the weekend, a sanatorium or a boarding house with meals.
Book hotels in Sochi on Ostrovok·ru — prices on the Island are lower than on official hotel websites.
Sochi city center is a stretch between the Riviera and Arboretum parks, do not climb high so as not to drive or walk uphill. Spa hotels with pools are especially good for spring.

The historical Primorskaya Hotel, built in the center of the Sochi Promenade in 1936, is now closed for restoration.
Excursions to Sochi
Spring is a good time for excursions around Sochi and the surrounding area. In spring, there is no such debilitating heat and scorching sun as it happens in summer. Any tour format is suitable: on foot or by car, individually or in a group. Read reviews and book good guides in advance.
On a fine day, you can go sightseeing in nature. At this time of the year, Sochi National Park is blooming, filled with smells and sounds, there is more water in the waterfalls.
In spring, the ski season ends at Rosa Khutor. The summer trekking routes are not open yet, so it’s not so interesting to walk upstairs on your own. With the tour, you can visit all 3 resorts of Krasnaya Polyana and learn about the history of the Olympics.
Excursions from Sochi to Abkhazia are very popular. I recommend choosing a trip to Lake Ritsa, but in the spring you can decide on the maximum route with New Athos. We went on an individual tour of Abkhazia in April.
Entertainment in Sochi in the spring
Outdoor walks
Vacationers walk along the Sochi promenade, along the sea and in parks. Be sure to bring sunglasses and face cream with SPF. You will always find a free bench with a beautiful view, and you will take pictures in a popular location without waiting in line.
In the spring, Sochi does not swim yet, but it is very pleasant to walk along the sea, sit on a swing with a soft mattress or in a cafe on the shore. There are free pump rooms with drinking mineral water Plastunskaya near the Winter Theater and in the Riviera Park — grab your bottle or buy a cup on the spot.
Mimosa blooms in the Arboretum Park (lower part) in February-March. Another large mimosa bush grows in the garden “Friendship Tree”. You can see a blooming magnolia in the Riviera Park at Friendship Meadow and Cosmonauts Alley. Sakura, wisteria, yellow fortia and pink almonds bloom in Sochi in April. Take pictures, but don’t tear up!

Museums help out in bad weather. The ticket price is 100-200 rubles, discounts for children and pensioners.

A 40-minute drive from the center of Sochi (Kurortny Prospekt 120/1) is the house museum “Stalin’s Cottage”. It is open daily, you can get there by bus or with a guided tour.
Concerts in Sochi
Concerts and performances in the spring are held indoors: the Winter Theater, the Organ and Chamber Music Hall, the New Sochi Theater.
Every time we go to the Winter Theater, we have been to a jazz concert, ballet, rock opera, a performance with the participation of KVN Comedy artists. Tickets must be bought in advance. There is an art gallery and a music salon in the beautiful foyer of the Winter Theater, there is a buffet — come early.

Boat trips in Sochi
Yachting starts from the Sochi Seaport. Yachts sail 3 km from the shore, you can move around the ship inside and outside, there are warm blankets. A beautiful panorama of the Black Sea coast and mountains, a high probability of meeting dolphins.
In April, we were persuaded to go on an individual boat trip on a yacht and we did not regret it! You can take food and drinks on board for a picnic, take beautiful photos, and celebrate a significant event.
An interesting format of a boat trip is Black Sea fishing for 3 hours. We went on a catamaran in a small group, caught horse mackerel and tasted it, watched dolphins, admired the sunset and panoramic views of Sochi.
The large three-deck catamaran Dargomys departs from the Sochi seaport several times a day. I went on an evening cruise, sat at a table and watched the sunset over a cup of coffee. Try to get on board among the first to get a good seat.
Aqualoo Water Park
The sanatorium-resort and entertainment complex “Aqualoo” is located in the Lazarevsky district of Sochi, in the village of Loo. Bus or minibus No. 155 from Sochi railway station, 40 minutes. website
The cost of visiting the water park is from 500 rubles for adults, from 300 rubles for children, cheaper on weekdays. 10% discount “For the whole family” when buying 3 or more tickets. The birthday boy from 3 to 16 years old is free on his birthday.
We went to Aqualoo for half a day, swam in the pools with sea and thermal water, warmed up in the sauna. They come with children for the whole day or stay in hotels and guest houses nearby.
I do not recommend Aqualoo sanatorium — the price does not match the quality. Loo has a new 4* Radiant Resort apartment complex with direct access to its own beach, park and swimming pool.
European-level pools and spas are available in most of the Sochi hotels listed above. Free of charge for residents, for money for others.
