Singapore’s Ministry of Health has announced health testing at two of the country’s largest airports for tourists and crew members from potentially dangerous regions.
“To date, there are no direct flights between Singapore and countries with an outbreak of the monkey pox virus, from August 23, 2024, we will introduce temperature measurement and vision checks at Changi and Seletar airports for tourists and crew members coming from places that may be at risk of an outbreak of monkey pox,” the statement said.
It is clarified that the Singapore Ministry of Transport and Immigration is also involved in conducting the health check and Control of checkpoints. In the future, a similar check will be carried out for passengers arriving in the country by sea.
At the moment, since the beginning of 2024, 13 confirmed cases of infection with the smallpox virus of the Clade 2 strain have been recorded in Singapore, RIA Novosti reports.
