Russians are beginning to be issued Schengen visas

Россиянам начинают выдавать шенгенские визы

The “newly minted” participant of the “partial Schengen” will begin to issue Schengen visas to Russians. We are talking about Bulgaria, whose embassy in Moscow announced that the country will begin issuing Schengen visas to Russian citizens for the first time.

At the same time, it was stated in the Bulgarian press that the submission of applications “will begin after April 1, 2024.” The process will be carried out by the Bulgarian Embassy in Moscow and St. Petersburg. It was announced that it would be implemented by the Consulate General in St. Petersburg. At the same time, tourists were told that the waiting time in the queue for submitting documents “will be the same as in other countries of the Schengen area.”

The Bulgarian Embassy also informed that short-term national type C (tourist) visas issued before March 31 will be valid “only for entry into Bulgaria” and “for trips to Romania and Cyprus.” But long-term type D visas obtained before the same date will allow you to stay in Bulgaria for more than 90 days, “allowing you to make short-term trips to other countries of the Schengen area.”

Recall that on December 31 last year, the Council of the European Union decided to introduce a “partial Schengen” for the Republic of Bulgaria. From March 31, 2024, checks on citizens of the country at the internal sea and air borders of the EU will be canceled.
