Leroy Merlin has changed the name of the legal entity from Leroy Merlin Vostok to Le Monlid, but the company does not intend to change the brand yet.
The change of a legal entity is reflected in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities. In addition, Rospatent’s information system indicates that the Monlid trademark was registered in January 2024.
As RIA Real Estate commented in the company, the name change was carried out as part of the transfer of management to local management.””In particular, on March 5, 2024, the legal name of Leroy Merlin Vostok LLC was changed to Le Monlid LLC without changing the legal entity. No decisions on rebranding have been made at the moment,” the retailer’s press service said.
The renaming will not affect the operational activities, strategic plans and work of employees of the retail chain, the company added.
“The name change, and then the possible rebranding of Leroy Merlin, is not just a legal process of name change, but a reorganization that will entail the further separation of the Russian division from the parent company,” said Pavel Lyulin, vice president of the Union of Shopping Centers.
He does not exclude rebranding, changing the assortment and suppliers, as well as the management structure in the company.
Leroy Merlin is a French chain of hypermarkets specializing in the sale of goods for construction, repair and home improvement. Its owner, the ADEO Group, decided in 2022 to stop financing the Russian division. In March 2023, ADEO announced that they intend to transfer it to local management. At the end of last year, Scenari Holding LP, registered in the UAE, became the owner of 99.99% in Leroy Merlin Vostok LLC. JSC Group ADEO owns 0.01% of it.
