John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) and Newark Airport in New York State have temporarily suspended operations due to the earthquake in neighboring New Jersey. This was stated by the governor of the state, Katie Hokul, Fox News reports.
An inspection is currently underway there. According to Hokul, experts are assessing the possible consequences of the earthquake.
Earlier on April 5, an earthquake of magnitude 4.8 occurred in New Jersey. Tremors were felt in cities from Philadelphia to Boston, including Manhattan in New York. Hokul called the earthquake the most powerful in a century.
The strongest earthquake recorded in New York occurred in 1884, when the magnitude was 5.2.
