Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia have banned the entry of Belarusian cars into the country

Латвия, Литва и Эстония запретили въезд белорусских автомобилей в страну

The authorities of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia have decided to ban the entry into their countries of cars registered in Belarus, that is, having Belarusian license plates, reports about this appeared on the official resources of these states. Entry to cars with Russian license plates has been banned for a long time.

The Latvian State Revenue Service explained, the TASS news agency writes, that this measure is related to sanctions imposed by the European Union: the EU authorities banned the import of Belarusian goods into their territory, the sale of which would contribute to the diversification of Minsk’s income. The authorities of the Baltic countries believe that passenger cars registered in Belarus are also such goods.

At the same time, if the owner of the vehicle returns from the European Union to Belarus, and the car is not registered as a product and definitely serves as a means of transportation, then he may be allowed to enter. An exception will also be made for transport if it is used by diplomatic and consular missions.

If a car with Belarusian license plates tries to illegally cross the border, the driver will be asked to return to the country from which the departure was carried out. If the motorist refuses, the vehicle will be confiscated
