Estonia tightened customs control

Эстония ужесточила таможенный контроль

The Estonian authorities have decided to tighten customs controls for all those leaving the European Union for Russia, according to the official Internet resource of the Estonian Tax and Customs Department. According to the information on the website, this may lead to a reduction in the capacity of this border by 2 times, which, accordingly, will also increase the waiting time for inspection.

Earlier, control at the Narva, Luhamaa and Koidula border crossings was selective. Now Estonians have started to carry out a full customs inspection of every person crossing the border. If people are traveling by car, they must pass a vehicle inspection, as well as all the goods in it.

The head of the Customs Inspection Department of the NTD, Voldemar Linno, recalled: “We ask everyone traveling to the Russian Federation to make sure that the goods they have with them are not under sanctions.” Thus, it is forbidden to transport cash from any of the EU countries to Russia, clothes, shoes and other goods more expensive than 300 euros, consumer electronics more expensive than 750 euros. The full list of goods prohibited for export from Estonia to Russia is available on the official website of the Customs Department.
