Direct flights are expected to launch to the popular Russian beach country, although no specifics have been announced yet. We are talking about Indonesia, more precisely, the island of Bali. According to ATOR, the Indonesian side received information about direct flights from Moscow to Denpasar from the Indonesian Embassy headed by Mr. Ambassador, as well as from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, which was announced at a meeting with the Pax tour operator.
However, there are no specific details on flights yet. As stated by Mr. Ambassador of Indonesia to Russia Jose Tavares, negotiations on this topic “have already reached the highest level and an understanding of the situation and agreement have been reached.” So we can hope that the launch of direct flights to Denpasar is indeed possible in the very near future. But so far there is no information on the timing and carriers — and this despite the fact that optimistic insiders assure that the launch is possible as early as June.
However, apparently, the direction does not complain about the demand anyway. According to the statistics cited by Mr. Ambassador, in the first three months Indonesia received almost 51 thousand of our tourists, 90% of whom were vacationing in Bali. According to him, in 2023, the Russian tourist flow set a historical record, and at the moment Russia is now among the top 20 countries supplying tourists to Indonesia, ranking 15th there. Last year, the figures of our tourist flow were higher, but just a little bit – about 57 thousand tourists.
At the same time, Indonesia is not against long-term tourists (despite all the scandals). So, at the meeting, the program of the “Golden Visa” was announced, which gives the right, including investors, to live in Indonesia for 5-10 years. Russians are also trying to lure to get to know Indonesia outside Bali — tourists want to offer the ancient Borobodur temple complex on Java Island, built in the VIII and IX centuries AD, Lake Tobo in North Sumatra province, Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara, Likupang in Sulawesi province, Lombok Island and its beautiful Mandalika beach, and there are also wellness programs.
And there is already a demand from tourists traveling to Indonesia for such programs, experts assured. Combined tours Singapore + Bali, Malaysia + Bali are also in demand. The tour operator and travel agents also record an increase in demand for the destination — and up to 50%. So direct flights will be who to ship. In the meantime, tourists are transported on Qatar Airways seat blocks.
