One of the founders of the OceanGate company, which is engaged in diving on bathyscaphes, has planned a trip to one of the deepest holes on earth. This was reported by the Independent.
We are talking about 58-year-old Guillermo Sonleini, he founded OceanGate together with millionaire Stockton Rush, who died as a result of diving a bathyscaphe to the wreckage of the Titanic a year earlier. Sonlein left the company 10 years ago and founded his own company, Blue Marble Exploration.
Now this company has placed an advertisement for diving into Dean’s Blue Hole in the Bahamas. This is an underwater sinkhole 202 meters deep, the locals call it the “gates of hell”.
“Every year for different reasons in Several people are drowning in Dean’s hole. We are absolutely sure that we will come across human remains during the dive and intend to get out of this situation with due respect for the families of the victims,” the advertisement says.
At the moment, it is unknown which kind of bathyscaphe will be used for diving, but the company promised to provide professionals to work on board. The cost is also not mentioned.
Recall that in June 2023, five tourists, among whom were the richest people, boarded the OceanGate company’s bathyscaphe. After a while, the bathyscaphe disappeared from radar, and they began to search for it. A few days later, the wreckage of a naval vessel was found at the bottom, and all the tourists on board died.
Earlier it was reported that in the USA they wanted to make a film based on the tragedy with the bathyscaphe.
