A Russian tourist reported her abduction in Mexico. The woman was taken hostage by members of a local cartel and demanded a dollar ransom from her husband for “traveling through their land,” the Telegram channel Shot reports.
According to the channel, the 23-year-old abducted woman went on a trip to Latin American countries about three weeks ago. The woman stayed with a local family in Monterrey, with whom she went to Reynosa by car on Thursday, March 14. At about 11 p.m., a tourist sent a message to her husband and told him that they were being chased by armed Mexicans from a local cartel, and three hours later a ransom demand of 1.5 thousand dollars came from her phone.
The man transferred the money to the specified card, after which he was asked for another $ 900, which he also sent. The husband does not know exactly where the kidnapped woman is now. In a conversation with Shot, he explained that cartel members had stolen not only a Russian woman, but also the family’s car. The car was found abandoned somewhere in the area a day later, and the tourist is still being searched.
Earlier, a Malaysian resident kidnapped a Chinese tourist and subjected her to physical violence. The attacker was caught by the police when the victim ran away from him.
