According to ATOR, the Thai authorities expect at least 1.9 million tourists from Russia to arrive in the country by the end of this year.

The Kingdom remains one of the most popular destinations for winter beach holidays among Russian tourists. Guests are most often attracted to Phuket Island with a lot of beautiful beaches, among which Kamala Beach stands out.
According to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, for eight months of the year — from January to August — the tourist flow from the Russian Federation to Thailand accounted for 1.1 million people. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) said that this is a record in the history of Russian tourism to the country.
Moreover, the tourist flow has grown not only in the most popular regions of Thailand, such as Phuket or Pattaya, but also in others, including the most remote northern provinces.

In 2023, Thailand, according to TAT, was visited by about 1.5 million Russian tourists, three times more than in 2022 and slightly more than in pre-2019. The largest tourist flow from Russia was registered in the kingdom in 2012 and 2013, when 1.61 million and 1.74 million Russians visited it, respectively.
Over the past summer in Thailand has already set a record for the tourist flow from the Russian Federation: 222,000 of our compatriots have rested in the country. This was 23% higher than in the summer period a year earlier. Moreover, these figures have basically become a record in the entire history of Russian tourism to Thailand.
Tour operators explain the high popularity of Thailand in the summer by the fact that the pronounced seasonality of recreation, which was observed earlier, is now decreasing: guests from In Russia, they are increasingly going on vacation in the “off—season” – from May to October. The most popular summer month among Russians in It was July in Thailand this year, when 83,300 tourists arrived in the kingdom.

At that time, tourists were offered a wide range of flights, both direct and connecting, as well as favorable prices for accommodation: hotels in Thailand reduced fares by 20-30% for the summer, and rest in general fell in price.
According to TAT statistics, Russia ranked fifth among foreign travel markets at the end of the summer season, behind China, Malaysia, India and South Korea.
In addition, since July 15, a new type of multiple—entry visa for Thailand has also appeared – the DTV visa, which allows foreigners to stay in the kingdom for up to 180 days for tourism and remote work. The validity period of such a visa is five years, the cost is 10,000 baht ($276).
