Russia and Saudi Arabia plan to work on increasing the accessibility of mutual tourist trips.

During the online meeting of the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Reshetnikov with the Minister of Tourism of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ahmed Al-Khatib, dedicated to topical issues of bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector, it was decided to bring interstate relations in the field of tourism between the two countries to a radically new level.
“Following the meeting, the parties outlined a number of practical steps to improve the quality and recognition of tourist products in the markets of both countries, strengthen investment cooperation, reduce visa barriers and improve transport connectivity. The key agreements will form the basis of a memorandum of cooperation, which the parties agreed to sign by the end of 2024,” the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development reports.
In the first half of 2024, the entry of tourists from Saudi Arabia to Russia increased 12 times compared to the same period in 2023. Saudi citizens occupy the second place in terms of the number of electronic visas issued to Russia.
