The State Duma may consider a bill on railway tourism in Russia in the spring session.

According to Nadezhda Shkolkina, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, railway tourism is one of the most promising and in-demand segments of the tourism industry.
So, in 2022, Russian Railways transported more than 690 thousand tourists along 61 routes, in 2023 — 940 thousand along 81 routes, including tours “Santa Claus Train”, “Big Change”, “Country of Discoveries” and others.
“There are no rules and requirements for such trains and routes. Therefore, my colleagues and I from Russian Railways have developed a draft law that defines such definitions. This will allow us to determine the rules of transportation on such trains, because passenger and tourist transportation are radically different from each other,” the press service of the PCT quotes Nadezhda Shkolkina.
It is expected that with the availability of legislative support for railway tourism, not only Russian Railways will have the opportunity to purchase more modern and comfortable wagons and create more tourist routes at the expense of funds received from tourists, but also the subjects of Russia will have an impetus for development.
The first reading of the bill may take place in the spring session.
