The 73-storey Tower of the US Bank has a height of 1,018 feet (approximately 310 m). On the roof of the building there is the most popular observation deck in Los Angeles, which is rightfully considered one of the most important attractions of the City of Angels.
But over the past few years, a glass slide, called Skyslide, has successfully competed with the panoramic platform in popularity.
A trip through the glass tunnel fixed to the facade of the building takes only 3 seconds and costs $ 8, but the impressions you get during a short trip are truly priceless.
In order for tourists not to get stuck in the pipe, everyone is given a special rubber mat before descending, which reduces adhesion to the surface and protects clothes from friction.
Despite this, incidents happen and there is a constant screeching above the terrace of the 69th floor. Those who have lost the mat have to slide down the glass, helping themselves with their hands and feet, to the laughter and jokes of onlookers.
The Skyslide slide is considered a safe attraction, although there are emergencies here. In particular, a week after the opening of the slide, one of the tourists twisted her leg in the pipe and even sued the owners of the office and entertainment complex.
The Skyslide structure is a square tube in cross section made of special high-strength glass with a thickness of 3.2 cm. The slide is fixed on a metal structure and, according to experts, is able to withstand even a hurricane wind.
