It is problematic for Russian citizens to get to Argentina on Turkish Airlines flights not only without luggage (we recently wrote about one such case), but also without a return ticket. The day before, a video appeared on the Network in which an employee of a Turkish airline explains, presumably to a tourist, that there should be a round trip ticket, and issued with a single booking.
There is a heated discussion on this topic in thematic chats – both this case and flights to South America by Turkish airlines in general. The policy of Turkish Airlines, to put it mildly, is not approved. At the same time, the airline’s rules, which appeared on the website no later than February, note that the lack of luggage and a return ticket can indeed cause non-admission to the flight.
It is clear that those of the Russian passengers who need to fly to Buenos Aires in the coming dates are the most nervous. “I have a flight in 5 days, what should I do? To hand over tickets?” – one of the passengers asks in the chat. More experienced colleagues advise her to add a return ticket to an existing ticket or use the services of another carrier. However, adding a return flight after the fact may not help. “Tickets must be one transaction on one date,” explains another participant in the discussion.
It is also noted that the selective approach to passengers flying to America has been practiced by Turkish Airlines for a long time and is associated with the fact that the costs of returning a passenger if he is not allowed to Argentina or another country fall on the shoulders of the airline. Moreover, a significant part of these additional expenses will be reimbursed by the specific shift that allowed such a passenger to take off.
Therefore, as the participants of the discussion summarize, for a hassle-free trip to Argentina on a Turkish Airlines flight, round-trip tickets are required with one booking, luggage, not a new passport with stamps (if new, then you need to take the old one with you), insurance for the duration of your stay, a reservation for 30 days and a sum of money on the card.
Another option is to fly with another airline. But even here, difficulties may arise. For example, in mid-November last year, 20 Russian citizens were removed from an Emirates flight from Dubai to Buenos Aires. There were no official comments at that time. But it can be assumed that the reason for the non–admission was related to the additional control that the Argentine authorities introduced after the popularity of the so-called pregnant tours increased significantly – Russians fly to Argentina to give birth in order to obtain a residence permit and, in the future, a second citizenship.
