ATOR reports that the arrival of super typhoon Yagi is expected on the popular tourist island of Hainan in China. Due to its approach, air traffic has been suspended there.
Meteorologists call Yagi one of the most powerful in the last decade in this region. It is expected that the typhoon with wind gusts up to 210 km/h will approach the island today, September 6, at about 20:00 local time. It is predicted that the Yagi will reach Hainan and Guangdong Province on the mainland.
To date, all flights at Sanya and Haikou airports have been canceled or postponed, including flights of Russian airlines Aeroflot from Moscow and Rossiya from Krasnoyarsk. It is expected that full-fledged flights to Hainan will resume no earlier than Saturday, September 7.
