Sberbank’s Domklik analytical Center has reported on key changes in the Russian mortgage market that have occurred over the past month.

Experts remind that on July 1, the massive preferential mortgage program with state support for new buildings ended, and on July 10, the government of the Russian Federation announced new conditions for family mortgages, which became more targeted. As a result, there was a decrease in demand for mortgage loans during the month.
According to data for July, Sberbank issued 49.7 thousand mortgage loans, that is, half as much as in June (-54.4%). The volume of disbursements also decreased by half to 207.8 billion rubles (-49.9%).
According to analysts, the decline in indicators was due to a decline in demand for primary housing and private residential buildings under construction – markets where dependence on preferential mortgage programs was strongest.
