Eyewitness: the passenger was the first to start a conflict with the flight attendant of Ural Airlines

The fight between a passenger and a flight attendant on the scandalous Ural Airlines flight from Sochi to Moscow was provoked by the tourist himself. This was told by a subscriber of the “Roof of the Tourist House”, who found herself in the thick of events. 

The incident itself occurred on April 11. Due to a technical malfunction, the Ural Airlines flight could not take off from Adler on schedule. But the passengers were not returned to the terminal, but left in the cabin. Due to the breakdown, the air conditioners also turned off. In such conditions, people spent more than an hour, and then several people went to the doors and stairs, where there is more fresh air.

A crowd formed near the exit from the plane. In this turmoil, a violent conflict broke out between an elderly man and a flight attendant. The altercation was caught on video, which quickly spread on social networks and reached the press. Moreover, most media claimed that it was “the steward who beat the tourist.” However, the situation turned out to be not as unambiguous as it was presented in the news.

“I was on this flight and got off the plane, there were three of us who refused to fly. The man in the video behaved aggressively from the moment he entered the plane, and when he felt stuffy, he tried to break into the captain’s cabin, insulted the flight attendants. Therefore, the guy could not stand it after an hour of his screams and provocations,” explained an eyewitness to the events and a subscriber to the Roof of the Tourist House.

It should be noted that the airline itself insists on the passenger’s fault. As told in the press service of Ural Airlines, a man of pre-retirement age turned out to be a real aggressor. He was already drunk when boarding the plane. During the flight delay, he constantly addressed the flight attendants with threats and insults.

According to representatives of the airline, the situation developed as follows: passengers crowded around the cockpit, with whom an employee of the carrier was talking. At that time, a flight attendant squeezed through the tourists with water, but due to the crush, some of the liquid spilled and fell on an elderly man. He apparently took it as a deliberate aggression and responded in kind.

“The pensioner hit the steward several times in the stomach and in the face, tried to bite. Passengers and crew members broke up the brawl,” Ural Airlines explained.

However, who is right and who is to blame, the transport prosecutor’s office will now figure it out. The Ural Supervisory Authority has already started material on this incident and will assess the actions of the aircraft crew.
